The Holy Bible and Mormonism

Review by Shiloah Baker

This is an excellent book for all those wishing to know how the Mormon’s beliefs are Biblically based. The author has an in-depth and thorough knowledge of the Bible as well as the LDS faith and clearly explains our beliefs each chapter. Careful research and study has gone into the writing of this book. It is thought provoking and full of information.

I was impressed with the thorough knowledge the author had of questions or misunderstandings many Christians have about the Mormon faith. He clearly explains the misunderstandings and then thoroughly answers each question using only verses from the bible. Questions are answered chapter by chapter and include what we believe as far as: being saved by grace, baptisms for the dead, the Trinity, the Priesthood, eternal marriage, the three degrees of glory and many other topics. Some of the topics I did not realize were argued or questioned and I was very interested in reading the answers.

This book was written in a loving spirit. It wasn’t written to argue or cause anger or contention, but to share knowledge of the gospel according to the Mormon faith. I enjoyed how the author shared his testimony of the things he taught throughout the book. This is a perfect book to share with each friend who has questions about our religion and wishes to know the answers according to the bible only.

In addition to those who are not of the Mormon faith, those who are LDS should read this book so you too can gain a clearer understanding of how the Bible answers the questions of our beliefs that many people outside of our church have. Also a good read for those preparing to go on missions for the church.

Several chapters were read aloud to my family as I thought even my children should hear them. It spurred deep discussions and gave openings for many questions about our religion. It was lovely to be able to answer questions so clearly with the help of this book. I highly recommend you take time to read this informative and useful book.
