Mothers of Large Families Interviews

Sunday, September 6, 2009

The Homemaking Cottage has begun a new series of interviews entitled Mothers of Large Families. Shiloah Baker, owner of The Homemaking Cottage and mother of seven often feels alone in her experiences in having a large family. She is an avid reader of vintage magazines, one of which interviewed women who had "mega families" to use a term more current with today's time. Reading about these amazing women inspired her to find today's mothers who have chosen a road less traveled and who have large families. She began the series in June of 2009 and continues to be amazed and inspired by these women who share their stories in this series of interviews.

Mothers of Large Families Series

The interview series is featured in two places: on The Homemaking Cottage website and The Homemaking Cottage blog.

LDS Rubber Stamps Product Review

LDS Sunbeam Stamps

The Relief Society Enrichment Stamp Set:

An ENRICHMENT stamp(image size is 2.75? x 1.5?)
A CHARITY NEVER FAILETH stamp(image size is 3.5? x 1.0?)
VISIT TEACHING stamp (size is 1.” x1.”)
And the coordinating HEART stamp is .6? x .5?

I was blessed to be given a set of these stamps to review. As an avid rubber stamper and owner of several hundred rubber stamps, I was immediately struck by the high quality rubber used in these stamps. The rubber stamps at Sunbeam Stamps are also affordably priced, making it a great tool for those in the Relief Society calling.

If you've purchased any of my LDS HFPE ebooks, you'll know how much I love to make creative invitations or catchy announcements for Enrichment nights. One thing I always find lacking is finding LDS related supplies to make my creations. Thanks to Sunbeam Stamps and Laura's creative mind and artistic talents, we LDS sisters now have a way to make not just Relief Society projects, but any LDS themed paper projects such as Young Women's, Scouts, Missionary, Eternal Marriage, and more.

Gratitude for Peace and Contentment

"Without question, we need to be informed of the happenings of the
world. But modern communication brings into our homes a drowning cascade of the violence and misery of the worldwide human race. There comes a time when we need to find some peaceful spiritual renewal.

"I acknowledge with great gratitude the peace and contentment we can find for ourselves in the spiritual cocoons of our homes, our sacrament meetings, and our holy temples. In these peaceful environments, our souls are rested. We have the feeling of having come home."

James E. Faust, "Gratitude As a Saving Principle," Ensign, May 1990

Along these lines, I recently wrote an article forGood and Lovely things The Homemaking Cottage Deluxe Edition Entitled, "Connoisseurs of Lovely and Good Things"

Summary
"Knowing our world is filled with actions that are wrong and disturbing doesn’t mean we should dwell on them. There have been other times in the history of the world when disturbing incidences have occurred causing sensations around the people who were near enough to know of them."
